    does anyone know if any of the carbs off the xj600 series are the same as an xj550/ or what other model would suit the xj550

    For starters, the XJ550 have different carbs depending on whether it's a Seca or a Maxim. The bodies are the same Mikuni BS28, but the jets and needles are different.

    I think they are a 32mm carb compared to 28mm on the 550

    I would think you'd be jetted too rich and the cost of re-working the carbs so they run right would be more than shopping for the right ones.
