I have ordered a kit of syncgauges and will make a try on syncing my carbs. Now, when i ask people around me they all say its too difficult and that they all leave it to the workshops.

But reading through the haynes, there is nothing in there that seems even remotely difficult, the only problem seems to be that most people dont have their hands on gauges or manometers.

So just a quick question, is synching the carbs really as easy as Haynes make it sound, or am i in for some headache?

easy yes, quick hmmmm not always. If you haven't cleaned the carbs in a while I would recommend you get them clean as can be then sync. That way you are good all the way around. But yes once carbs are clean and on the bike not bad at all.

There's nothing complicated about synching the carbs, it's a very easy process. The problem arises in that other little problems can completely screw up your sync. I have a DynoJet kit on my bike, and that makes it a bit more painful in finding that sweet-spot. Non-clean carbs could screw with your results. Air/fuel mixtures should be correct. A number of different variables affect, and are effected by, the carb sync.

    If I'm not mistaken..

You have to figure-out how to fuel the bike while you are tuning.
I made an external fuel tank by taking one off from an old sno-blower and attaching it to a board that won't fall over while its hooked-up to the bike.

The actual Syncing won't take too long after you get everything hooked-up and the bike running with the four lines to your set-up.

    Remember:
Number 3 is the Base for doing all the syncing.
Number 3 has no sync screw and you adjust it by adjusting the idle rod.

    The book says:
Sync 1 -to- 2 by turning the No.-1 Screw until 1 and 2 are the same.

    In the same way:
Sync 4 -to- 3 by adjusting the Sync Screw for No.-4

Then, Sync 2 -to- 3 and complete the process.
(Since the 1 & 2 Carbs are married ... adjusting only 2 to 3 will bring the No.1 Carb right along for the ride.

    Good luck.
Getting in sync is an important step toward fine tuning.
