When tuning for filters and/or exhaust mods. To get richer you can either go smaller on the pilot air or larger on the fuel pilot or main fuel. Does it matter whether you change one or the other?

Smaller on the Pilot Air will only serve to lessen the Amount of Pilot Fuek drawn-up by the Pilot Mixture Screw.

The Air's rushing-over the connection in the Fuel Passage is what brings-up the Pilot Fuel from the Pilot Jet feed.

If anything, Both AIR Jets should be larger and the Air Metering Ports of the Emulsion Tubes enlarged some to bring-up a larger volume of Fuel to compensate for the flood of Air with no airbox restriction.

So on the Mikuni BS28, since the main air isn't replaceable and it already has a 170 pilot air, there isn't much to be done on the air side of things?
