    Cleaned the carbs using ricks instructions...... Sweet write up!!!!

    Put the old plugs in and fired it up to get the mixture within sight...installed new plugs and got the color looking good but i have had to back the mixture screws almost all the way out which i understand as bad i started with the standard 3 turns but everything was much too clean after a 15 minute ride so kept working on backing them out but im nearing almost 7-8 turns out.....

    to me that dosent seem right.... any insight? Thanks in advance

    Are you all stock? Or have you put pipes or pods on it?

    If you are stock and are too lean in riding (not at idle or near idle) then they either aren't clean (Main jets and emulsion tubes) or your float levels are set too low.

    Adding to what MiCarl said;
    If you DID put pods or exhaust on, you'll likely have to play with the jetting to get it right. If you DIDN'T change anything, try spraying down the rubber manifolds between the carbs and head with WD40 and listen for a change in engine RPM. This would indicate a vacuum leak or leaks.

    Eric:

    Did you note the size of the Pilot Jets when you did the Bottom End?

    You don't want to be that far out on the Pilot Mixture Screws.
    The "Cut" doesn't change after turning them out to their Maximum flow.

    To be able to do some real Fine-tuning ... you might have to bump the Pilot FUEL Jets up to the next size and give yourself some genuine room to regulate the Air~Fuel Mixture with some precision.
