My bike is a 82 yamaha maxim 750. i have a gasket between the engine and the boot that the carbs rest in go bad. so im replacing it. But it got me thinking. On the boot i took off there is a vacuum tube that runs to the petcock on the tank. On the other three boots are black tubes that stick up a few inches. They have been plugged with screws since i got the bike. So my question is experts, should the other three tubes that look to be cut go to something, should the just be kept plugged, or unplugged? can put a picture up if needed.

One goes to the petcock for the vacuum operated fuel valve. The other three should be plugged.

Ditch the hoses and screws though. The auto parts stores have vacuum caps you can put on the other three nipples. Way less likely to leak than screws in hose.

They should be plugged. They should actually have a blank cap on them and are removed to fit a vacuum gauge to balance the carburettors.
The line to the carb boot operates the vacuum fuel tap.

D'Oh! Need to learn to type faster!!!

AutoZone has a Hanging Blister Pack pf "Assorted Vacuum Plugs"

You get enough to do the Carbs and Cap your Brake Bleeders.

There's even a Longer one that you can slip on the Rear Brake Threaded Rod.
