Carbs problems

    I have a 81 xj 550 I finally got It started and idling with the choke on.when I give it gas it Boggs but if I feather the gas I can get it to rev. If I just touch the choke to turn it off it will die right away. My question is how can I tune the choke so it won't die on me

    Sorry to say your carbs need to come off and a serious cleaning is needed. Search forums on old school carb cleaning by Rick
    Follow the instructions and they should work fine when you are done.
