    Can anyone tell me if I can break down my carbs on my 82 xj650 with out getting a rebuild kit? Or with me doing so will just screw everything up just need to know so I can eaither A- get them broke down and cleaned, of B- order the rebuild kits and just do all four. Thanks all coments will be very helpful to me.

    If they haven't been rebuilt lately, then you'll need the new gaskets, after that you can take them on and off without too much worry. You'll want to definitely do all four imo. Chacal can hook you up with the parts, just click on the link at the top right of the site. Have fun :)

    I've pulled them apart plenty of times without needing a kit. Wisdom however is that you ought to have the kits on the self just in case something goes south while you are in there.
