I discovered an interesting thing after cleaning my carbs and getting them back on the 1981 xj650 seca. On carbs #2 and #3, the lifting fingers had to be bent up a bit so these plungers lifted at the same rate as the other two cylinders. The set screws that hold these plunger lifters to the shaft go into detents and there is very little room for them to be "off" alignment.
So, as a result, when the enrichment circuit is only partially on, two of the cylinders were getting a bit less fuel than the outside two cylinders and interfering with smooth idling during warm up. I have bent these levers up a small amount and they work better now. Not sure if this is a known common problem or not.

I will have to look into that tomorrow when I take the carbs out for cleaning.Sometime if I open choke lever just right..she'll fire up good.Other times if I open lever in the wrong spot..she won't fire up.It is normal I believe for the bike to idle higher on warm up when choked properly isn't it.Have read on hear that when it is warm out,you don't have to open choke all the way, maybe a little throttle opening and she'll fire. But did notice when it was real cold out..choked properly and I will get a fast idle on startup.
