    The standard is definitely acceptable for wet clutch motorcycles. I looked up the MA vs MA-2 designation to the JASO standard and it seems to be for wet clutches but also for wet clutch modern bikes with catalytic converters. The MA-2 will tend to have less anti-wear additives (phosphorus and zinc ) in order not to damage the converter. As far as being synthetic, I have heard some complain that it make the bike more susceptible to leaks or weeping. Others say they have had no issues. Now, this one is a synthetic blend and not 100% synthetic. So that would factor in. Myself, I tend to stay way from synthetics and just change may bikes oil about every 1500 or so since I don't put a whole lot of miles on it and don't like the oil to get old.

    It will be fine, I have always used semi-synthetics in my jap classics with no issues. Castrol would not label it as motorcycle oil if it was not suitable for wet clutches.

    ^^ What they said. At to the leaking story: That particular issue came about when people had leaky gaskets that were being plugged by sludge. Once a synthetic oil was used it would clean the sludge away and expose the fact that the gaskets were shot.

    Well, truth be told, I've been running it for three seasons now with no ill effects. Clutch is as fine as fine can be, starter clutch could care less.

    Cool, unexpected side effect: absolutely ZERO oil consumption, no matter how hard I hammer the 550R even when it's brutally hot out. With conventional oil, if I had a "spirited" afternoon, I could expect to maybe top off a bit before the next days' ride. With the Act>evo I maybe have to add a few CCs here and there, but only after a lot of miles. And completely unrelated to how I've been riding the bike, the ambient temp, any of that. Essentially zero oil consumption.

    Highly recommended.

    It's all I use in both bikes. No problems. But the main reason I use it is I have a great local one-man shop that I like to support and that's what he sells. Cycle Therapy - Bellingham, WA - Recommended.
