I'd like to get a spare CDI box for my 82 Canadian spec YICS 650 Seca. I came close to buying one from an 82 Maxim 650 and noticed it had a different part number. I'd assume these boxes are quite rudimentary and control timing curve. Do they interchange and is there one that is viewed as "Best" Thanks

using the 83 xj650 maxim because it is a yics motor and the US 650RJ has non yics motor it has a different timing curve than yics motors

there have been threads on this subject stating even the non yics TCI will work but it has a different timing.
all the xjs can be started with any tci and will run but will run poorly if not for that bike

we had a guy using a 900 tci in his 550. when he got the correct tci his issues went away

what color is your label and what part number do you have?

the Green and black are for non Yics motors for the 80 and 81 650 and the 82 650 seca US model

I have a Red Label and the model number is
TID1-06 5G2-10. , which I guess is the same as Seca 750's have in the US
