Center stand

The PO installed a 4 to 1 exhaust (XJ650) and also has removed the center stand. I would like to put a center stand back on, but am wondering if it will fit with the 4 to 1 exhaust ?

 

it should, ive seen quite a few bikes with 4-1's on them with a centerstand still

 

If you can figure out the brand of the exhaust you could try their website and see if they have info that says it will work. I have heard of some "headers" that require the removal of the centre stand to mount the system.
Just a thought.

 

Just put it back on, like try and mock it up and you will have your answer. I think mine could have stayed with my 4-into-1 config, but I didn't want it there.

 

Almost all 4 into 1's are designed to be used with a C-stand. Some aftermarket straight pipes or systems with collectors on some bikes don't have the bottom gaurd where the stand can contact the pipes and rub a hole, so that can be an issue. But typically the whole assembly of a 4-1 is out of the way anyway.

The PO probably took off the center stand for other reasons, like he 'thought' it was slowing him down, or he didn't plan on doing any 'real' maintenance

 

Does anyone know if the center stand off a 1982 xj650 seca will fit the 1980 xj650 maxim ?

Matt: I would try and put the original back on or mock it up - but it didn't come with the bike, PO took it off. Looking on eBay for a replacement.

However, it does look like the same stand was used on virtually all 650 Maxims from 1980 right up thru '83.

(The 650 Seca has a completely different frame.)
