Changing final drive on XJ900F to a XJ1100 final drive?

    No, it's not compatible. Different axle size and hub drive gear style.

    You're best option is fitting the tallest rear tire possible, but will only give you a small decrease in rpm's.
    Sure could use a sixth gear like my Maxim X.

    It's the same gear ratio that he has, so no sense in that.

    Isn’t there a higher gear ratio in the XJ1100 final drive? Read somewhere that XJ900 has 2,9 and XJ1100 has 3,3

    Well after I took a look at my old XS11.com bookmark I discovered you are correct on the 3.3 ratio.

    However, you would want to go lower numerically from what you have to lower cruise RPM, so that would be going the wrong direction.

    At some point there was a thread hear on swapping the middle drive gear, but seemed to be a lot of work.
    Search for that but may not be worth the trouble to change out.

    Alright I see, I will search for the thread regarding swapping the middle gear.
    But your suggestion changing to a higher rear tire seems like the best/easiest one.
