Is there any step-by-step instruction on how to remove the rear wheel in order to cange the tire?
I live some 45 clicks away from the Yamaha shop and would like to take the wheel there to change the tire.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

It is really simple. Remove the bar that conects to the bottom of the rear drum, Remove the nut on the axle, Remove axle catching the spacer, Remove brake drum, deflate tire for ease, pop rim away from gear box, pull tire out. If you need anymore help. Just ask.

Yeah, not too much involved. I did not have to remove the mufflers to get the wheel out (just). Had to get a drift and tap the axle through (from the nut side) as it was a bit tight.

You don't need to drain the diff or anything special.

Took the time to clean inside the break drum. I had issues with the rear break lever not returning and giving the drum a quick go over with wet and dry paper (you could see pitting that looked like the bike had been sitting for some time) solved the break problem. Also let me see I'd need new break pads soon.

Remember to use a torque wrench and new split pins when you put it back together.

    Great Guys!

Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure if I had to disassembe the hub.
I'll use all your advice and go for it.
I can get a goos deal on a Bridgestone M102-176 tire for the XJ's 130/90/16.
It's $150.00 Canadian. Any comments on this tire?

    Grateful

    One more thing guys.

What is the torque on the rear tire bolt?
Should I use a locking compound or anti-seize?

    Thanks again :D

It floods real easy. What is the usual procedure?

    Thanks.
