I looked up new "Donuts" for my valve cover. I need 8 of one size at $17-18 dollars a piece ? and 4 at about 10 bucks a piece I think I'll use the old ones if there not to bad. Ahyone know where I can get them really cheap ?
Thanks I'm talking as in a few bucks apiece.

Get ahold of XJ4Ever; they're not THAT expensive those are Yamaha prices.

You NEED to replace them if they're "baked flat" or even a new gasket will leak.

The bolts have stop collars on them that limit how far they can be tightened; those 'donuts' are what actually push the cover against the head/gasket.

    Fakeplay,

XJ4ever also carry a small brass tapered tool for around $2 that will make changing those pressure washers a 20 min. affair. Search>donuts.

Get them from Chacal and the donut tool. It is worth it! He has what you need with reasonable prices, and quick shipping. Thanks again Len.

+1 on the insert tool from Chacal. Makes the install easy. You won't find better parts or prices, and Len's service is absolutely impeccable.

i just swapped out some of those donuts. get em from chacal, he's been great to work with. as far as installing them, I found a method that is real easy and fast. no install too necessary.

dip the washer into some motor oil (WD 40 would probably work too) and then slide it onto the bolt until it hits the collar. next start screwing the bolt into the motor head with the valve cover off and keep going until the washer slides over the collar.

this method worked perfectly for me and all 8 outer washers and 4 inner ones took about 8 minutes to install.

Edit: removing the old ones is a bit of a pain. I took some bolt cutters and just clipped em off.

I'm just changing the 4 where the pipes connect to the engine. I'm looking for an easy way to get the old ones out. Penetrating oil ? and a pick ?
    Any Ideas ? Thanks
