Are there any plans to add a chat room here. If not, I understand. I hear they can be more trouble than they're worth but it would be a good addition.

I'd like to offer my .02 on chat rooms.

Nothing that gets said in a chat room is saved - so any solutions to problems aren't recorded. The brilliant part of a forum is that one can search the archives for other people with the same problems AND most likely find a solution. In this regard I feel chat rooms are a bit of a drain on the network ( MOORE's law - the value of a network is the square of it's members... having members in the chat room instead of here devalues the forum.)

The other thing is that often you'll find ithe chat room empty. Many of us just swing by every day, or every few hours - maybe once a week. If you waited for us in the chat room you'd die of old age for a solution. Posting it to the forum gaurentees that as soon as somebody comes back from their real life they'll see it and their $.02

One other thing - you'll notice that some of the members have msn/icq/aol/yahoo chat accounts - if they don't mind you could always message them and see if they wanted to chat. With some groups that works well... demographies as they are who knows?

Anyhow - just my thoughts on chat rooms... certainly if we had one I'd support it and visit once in awhile... I am just a bit biased towards forums

    Cheers,
    woot.

I thought about it in the past but I agree with Woot on this one. I guess we could schedule chat room sessions so we all 'tune' in on a given date to chat live. But at this point I think the community is too small for a chat room.

Great idea and keep them coming :)

I think chat rooms are great, if you have a membership of a few thousand so at least a few people are always around. I know quite often when I pop in here, no one's here anyway. But maybe I just come at weird times...
