    Hopefully not a stupid question:

When checking the float level while off the bike, using a clear tube attached to the drain plug - is there any reason why water can't be used instead of fuel?

Seems a lot cleaner. Of course, the water would have to be completely drained afterward.

While on the subject of clear vinyl tubing - where can I find .25" clear tubing?

I thought a pet store - fish tank supplies, air tubes etc. - but that tubing is either too small or too big.

No, water is not a accurate substitute.
There are diffrences with the densities of both fluids.
Long story short USE fuel, its in your best interest.

The hose is a very easy find. Just go and grab some clear fuel line from the auto parts store. I buy about 12" or so for $.40
Or maybe that was vacuum line, cant remember!
Either way it is not too bad of a purchase

Let us know what the findings are!

I guess I don't get why water would be better than the only thing that should ever be ran through your carbs, gas!

Plus, There may be differences in how buoyant your floats are in water versus gas. ( I can't say I know a whole lot about buoyancies )

I thought the point was to keep water our of your fuel system?

I found suitable tubing at the local hardware store ( Lowes / Home Depot ) Usually found in the plumbing section.

I use the Gallon sized container of Windshield Washer Fluid. It's primarily Alcohol and doesn't pose a fire hazard if spilled or drained.

It's viscosity is close to gas. Will freely flow through the Float Valve Beenie Screens and won't harm anything it comes into contact with.

A moment or two with the hair dryer will dry-out the Bowls and Body.

Gas is dangerous, messy and not necessary to find the Float Level.

    Try it!
