    Hi

First post here, checking in from Finland. I am new to Yamahas, at least bikes. Have had them as outboards before, have a Yamaha piano, guitar and active speakers at home but now bike too. Couple weeks ago I saw a 750 Seca '82 for sale near me, really bad pictures but it looked pretty decent cafe / scrambler build with broken engine, cheap too. It started crawling to my dreams, and when I spotted that seller had dropped the price to 680€ I just called him and asked for account nr to pay what he asked and collect the bike when I'd have time. So, it was pretty pleasent surprise when I got it to my workshop and checked what I had bought. It was build about 3 or 4 years ago, somebody had spent load of blood sweat and tears, probably beer and money too for it and just when it was time to start enjoying his work - kaboom, out goes the engine, badly. And out of frustration he sold it. PO that I bought it didn't do anything to it for couple of years and now sold it cheap. So, engine was completely toast - 3/4 conrods had over 3mm slack, cams were both lost, seems that there wasn't enough oil pressure for some time as they had worn couple of mm deep in to the journals etc. But everything else was way beyond expectations, paintwork is good, tank even flawless. Wiring has been done professionally, and I am harsh critic on that since I work with heavy machinery electronics myself. Loads of new aftermarket stuff in there, nice small led blinkers front and rear, rear light also led. New Metzeler Tourance tires, new progressive suspension rear shocks, new motocross bars, new cafe style seat and the list goes on. As the engine is gone I ordered a 4bb 900cc replacement from germany, and carbs from netherlands, both should arrive next week and then it's all fun and games. Since I have mostly worked on Triumph EFI triples this is going to be a steep learning curve to the deep end of Yamaha world but I am ready and willing. Will do, thanks Jetfixer. And will sure beg for help here too, I do know basics about carbs and have worked with them on cars but I'm quite sure I will stumble to some problems since I think I'll be getting dynojet kit or just pile of jets and needles since I get her in running condition first.

I have already been there for hours, unbelievable amount of useful information. Carbs just dropped to my workshop today, I think I'll get rebuild kits from my local autoparts store motonet. They have Keyster brand kits made in Japan which should be decent. I have already highly modified airbox that needs to be modified again because spacing with 36mm Mikunis is bigger than in the 32mm Mikunis that came with the bike. And that is bit weird too, originals should have been 32mm Hitachi four pack right?
