[align=justify] I am in the process of turning my stock maxium 750 in to a cafe/vintage racer. I want to install 36mm race clip on handel bars , but not to sure if this will work . What are my options ?

You could try clubman cafe bars. They will give you a leaning forward position.

I got my clip ons from ebay for $65, and a set of clubmans for ~$30. They both work on my maxim when adjusted correctly not to hit the tank.

unless you can get clip ons cheap, go with clubmans. Pretty much the same seating position, without the additional hassle.

Clip-on bars will probably hit the tank when you turn. I tried a pair of drag bars on my Seca years ago, with the stock risers and they hit the tank when I turned. Not good!

I have Clip-on's and they are fully adjustable so they don't hit the tank unless you adjust them that way. :D

I have mine mounted above the tree though. Below the tree and it's def possible that they will hit. Though I havent tested this (yet).

If you do decide to spend the extra cash on clip-on's you may have to do as I did and swap master cylinders with a modern remote cylinder, or one off of a CB (with dual discs if that's what you have). Due to the fact that the MC on out bikes hugs the bar so close and (some) clip-on's have a big clamp there.

Cost for the CB swap Free to $25, depending on where you get the cylinder and brake fluid...

Cost for the R6 setup... ugh... about $200 if you include getting new braided stainless lines made up and converting to 2 lines instead of the 1-line-and-splitter under the lower tree.

BTW, the position from the clip on's mountd ABOVE the tree is a lot less agressive then clubmans (not so leaned over)... But of course you can also flip clubmans upside down... or mount the clipons in a more agressive way.
