I took the clutch out of my '82 Seca 650 last night, to take a look at the plates. Everything looks good, plates are within the tolerance allowable and there was no bluing on the plates.

Now when I try to reinstall the sidecover with the pinion arm onto the rack, I can't get the tension back in my cable, and it seems like all the travel of the rack is used up, I cant force the lever by hand.

I have lined the arm with the side cover and as I slip it onto the rack the arm swings up. But the cable is still way to slack.

Am I missing something here, any ideas?

    Thanks

    Ken

Take the Throw-Out Arm off the Shaft.
Rotate the Shaft taking ALL the Slack up.
Keep the Shaft turned with all the play out while you adjust the Throw and Cable.

((I wrap a Leather Shoe Lace around the Shaft and Yank it tight like I'm trying to start a Lawn Mower. Get all the play out of it and Tape the Lace down to HOLD it.))

    Next, work the Cable.
    Set the Perch Adjustment Mid-way
Undo the Sheath Adjuster Nuts and arrange the Cable and Throw-Out Arm.

Place the Throw-Out Arm on the Shaft giving you an adjustment for maximum throw.
    Jockey the Cable Adjuster.
Lock things down after you get it just right.
