So i recently purchased a 1991 radian yx600. Bike is completely stock.

So yesterday i put new clutches in and the bike seemed great. How ever this morning i was driving and found the clutches were grabbing in first even though the clutch was pulled in. So after a few adjustments I managed to sort that out but then the clutches started to slip under heavy strain (anything over 100kph or about 6k rpms) so re adjusted the clutch cable and got that sorted out. Then the idle started to hold at around 3k woth the clutch pulled in. So i turned the idle down to around 1300. But my problem is the bike was fine yesterday anyone know what could of caused all this?

Are you using a manual? Might need to revisit assembling of the clutch.

And did you pre soak the plates before install?
Did you replace metal and fibre plates and springs and did you use oem or aftermarket parts

+1 on "Did you pre-soak the fiber plates?" Need to let them soak in motor oil (whatever you run in your bike) for around 24 hours. Otherwise they behave much as you described, as they absorb oil. With any luck, you didn't burn/glaze them before they had a chance to get saturated.

Also on xj clutches there are dots and whatnots that must be aligned including making sure complete throwout is achieved at the rod.

Clutches were presoaked 24 hrs. I used a manual to install the clutch. Also havent had a hitch since i got it adjusted.
