Every once in awhile in neutral when I engage the clutch it will kill the bike. Giving it a little gas or even out to g it in first then back to neutral fixes this. Any ideas?

try disconnecting your clutch safety switch in the head light bucket green connector.
    switch could be failing.

just unpluging the switch will make it so your bike will only start in neutral.
jumping across the connector will make it so your bike will start in gear. remember to pull in the clutch

Mine does that when it is time to clean the safety switch on the side stand. If it happens, reaching down and wiggling/pulling the side stand safety switch with the kickstand up will get it to start. I have to clean the switch every few seasons, but it still sticks once in a while.

you can also remove the sidestand safety relay to test the circuit

I was giving him a "quick" solution to use in a parking lot so he could get started and on the road :)

I am thinking after the sidestand test he may need a new neutral switch
