Bike jumps when taken out of neutral and dies. I've tried pulling on clutch arm to disengage clutch when bike is off but it won't come out of gear unless I put it back ot neutral

Have you tried adjusting it at the lever , there is a knurled adjuster , as well there is a adjustment on cable just above the arm . You can put a wrench on the arm move it up , see if this allows movement. You may have the clutch disk and plates stuck together if bike has sat for long periods .You may have to pull the clutch cover , and replace clutch disks . In the future please try to keep your threads together it will make it easier for input .

How long have you owned the bike? Has anyone been working on the clutch and do you have Haynes manual for the bike? Do what Jetfixer stated cable first to see if that fixes the problem.

The clutch lever should be tight just off the released position - i.e. Very little slack. No point adjusting it any tighter, unless you think the cable is stretching. If all the lever motion is being transferred you probably have rusty and stuck plates. Strip and clean, inspect. New gasket will be needed.
Advice on here is to replace anything showing wear, I'm not so sure...

I've pulled up on knurled adjuster and it moves but won't engage . I've had it probably 2 months. I've rode it once ever since I've had problems and now this

What is the adjustment like at the engine end of the clutch cable? Is the lever moving on the clutch case when you pull the clutch lever on the handlebar? Can you post a picture of each end of the clutch cable when you have the handlebar lever pulled in?
The lever on the clutch case has to move enough to separate the steel and friction plates or the clutch won't disengage fully.

When the bike is off in gear I pulled up on the knurled shift lever like the clutch handle would pull it but it still remained in gear and I couldn't push it. I took Jeff's advice and moved it with a wrench. That did work but it took more movement than my clutch cable would provide

You really need to be clearer with your terms, there is no such thing as a knurled shift lever? The knurled bit is the adjuster on the clutch perch.
You will never move the lever at the clutch housing without a spanner/wrench on it. If your cable is adjusted correctly - zero free play at the clutch lever (the one on the handlebars), the clutch should disengage. If the cable has give in it get another one. If it still doesn't disengage open her up.
