1980 650 maxim with no kickstand switch... starts fine but dies when put in gear...trying to restart in gear with clutch lever pulled blows ignition 10a fuse. Restarts in nutral over and over again till in gear... clutch switch works fine (checked and cleaned anyways...) Unplugged clutch switch and no problem putting in gear and riding... suspect a relay?

    Locate the Safety Circuit Relay.
    Un-Plug the Relay.
    See if that helps.

If it does ... you might have the wrong type relay trying to act as a Safety Relay.

Safety Relays, although appearing IDENTICAL to Lighting and Power Relays ... are wired differently.
