Thank you for all the help it was that I didnt line up the dots on the hub. I'm new at this stuff as you can tell so when I was putting it back together I seemed to put too much oil in( about 5 qrts ). My view window wasnt showing any oil so I kept filling it. When I started it I noticed oil spilling out of a couple of different locations. I drained out about 1qrt but its still smoking. Is this ok and will it burn out and how much oil does this bike need.

3500cc (roughly 3 1/2 quarts) from dry. 2950 (about 3 quarts) for oil and filter change.

You need to have the bike on the center stand to use the sight window. When properly filled no oil is visible in the window when on the side stand.

Rick will tell you to put it on the center stand and then fill just to the top of the window.

Running with too much oil can be very bad. Get the level set correctly.

The oil level needs to be ~ the middle of the sightglass, not clear to the top.

She should clear up once you get the oil level set right and go for a good long ride that warms the engine up to full operating temp.

Course you really should wait till summer to fog all the mosquitos, cause your going to throw a bunch of smoke and if your buddies see you....... well you know how that will go!
