    hi all whan you stop at a stop light is it ok to hold the clutch in and stay in first gear or should you shift in to nutral all the time.

    It's OK.

    Unless you want to rest your hand ...
    Then, you should select Neutral.

    I think it's a good practice to hit neutral at a stop light.
    What if the clutch cable breaks and you take an unexpected trip into the intersection.
