Hey guys I finally got my parts back and the bike back together. The color is sunburst orange pearl from the 08' Dodge lineup. There is a very light pearl scallops on the tank The way I wanted it so you don't really notice them unless you look. I had the swingarm and the wheels painted. here are some pics.

    Re: PROJECT: orange crush!!

That Orange is not a Yamaha Original color.
    The Judges are conferring.
    The bike does look FINE!
    Here come the numbers ...

    9.8 -- 9.8 -- 10.0 -- 10.0 -- 9.9 -- 10.0 -- 7.5 (Chinese Judge)

Throw-out the High and the Low.
    It's OFFICIAL ...
It's a 9.9 and that puts him in the lead for the Gold Medal!
    What was that ...
    A gunshot!
    The Chinese Judge is down!
The British Judge wants to change his score to a 10, too.
    There's pandemonium

    Re: PROJECT: orange crush!!

LOL!! you crack me up Rick..

    Thx guys

Oh and I know the radiator guard isn't there it wasn't ready they needed a different primer for the type of plastic it is made of. It will be ready by tomorrow I was told I only had the silver accents on the sides of the guard painted to match the rest.

The pictures really do not do it justice and of course the sun went behind some clouds before I got some pics of it in direct sunlight. The color really glows nice in the sun. I can't buff it out yet I was told to wait so some minor imperfections and the water spots from the water I had to douse the tank with after a leaky gas can incident filling it up after install threatened the finish will be gone when I can polish it up. THe only other thing I thought would have been nice is the pie shapes on the crank covers but I was afraid to remove 23 yr old gaskets without having new ones in my hands.

    GREAT JOB!

I never thought about doing the side panels of the engine in a color.
hmmm. I think I'll copy that idea!

I'd like to see you try the crankcase covers. I looked closely at them, and they will be a bit of a pain IMO. The grooves will make it difficult to get a clean lin I think.
If you want a "junk" one to test, drop me a PM. I was really curious what Muratic acid would do to them. I had one that was pretty badly scratched, and now it's "acid etched" nicely. I'd say it's not exactly attractive though.

Man, do I envy you guys that do such great work and have the time to detail like that. Wow - nice job XX! Between riding and maintenance there is no time in my day for that sort of work, so my machine looks its age even though it works great.

    Nice, very nice ride!

I meant like this(yes my photo shop/paint skill are terrible..)
My left side also has some rash on it but I haven't really searched for another one yet. It isn't real bad but I know its there.

accidentaly I found brake clean eats through the laquer and yamaha silver paint pretty easily(that was an ops moment)

PSteele although I did all the bead blasting and most the prep work to help things along and picked out the color and scallops I can't take credit for the paint I paid a friend 100 bucks to shoot it professionally at a body shop.

I agree with the Chinese judges' 7.5. We both docked you points for the Hitler helmet on the seat.

    PS. Nice bike

I wish I could finish some of my bike projects, but my wife keeps other projects in the way.

Thats my in town helmet the speed limits are all 25 and when it's hot out I can't stand my full face shoei. Highway or anywhere out of town I pop on the good stuff. That helmet is actually DOT approved It ins't the cheaerp peanut but I know it doesn't offer the protection of my full face. I have been debating to take the windshield off for the summer so the full face would be more comfy but when I get caught in the rain the windshield keeps me pretty dry.

Dave; Yes with provisions. Certain types of helmets can be painted, some cannot depending on exactly what they are made of. It is a function of helmet material and the type of paint, just takes a bit of research first. Did you get the Seca back together yet?
