I checked the coil resistance on both coils today, as thought I was getting a weak spark... Primary resistance on both coils was 2.5 ohms but the secondary resistance was 22.75 and 21.7 kohms respectively on the coils. Reading up through previous post would suggest both coils are bad - not sure if they are the original coils or not ? My Haynes manual would suggest it is unlikely that both coils would be bad at the same time. My question is first, what would the result of these secondary resistance readings exhibit in the overall bike performance be ? What other test should be done ? Any other avenues that should be looked into ? Carbs cleaned and re done as per below specs .. While Performing colourtune cyl 2 stayed yellow through all adjustments while #4 cyl at first showed no color but appeared to spark until about 2 full turns of air screw then went blue for very short period then yellow...

The other interesting thing that happened is that when rev engine one of the black caps on the copper tubes used to sync the carbs on the intake manifold blew OFF - this was on the #2 cyl..
    Any ideas suggestions...

11K for the secondary coil plus 5K for two spark plug caps means 11 + 5 + 5 = 21K... those numbers actually don't sound all that bad. When I had a coil fail, the secondary jumped up to 80K, and the bike was very difficult to start.

I could be way the hell off, but what you're describing re: the colortune adjustments still sounds like carbs. (Oh, and you're not the only one that can't seem to get the #2 cylinder to fall into line... :D )

As for the vacuum caps, just get some more from Chacal. Auto parts store if you can't wait that long.

Thanks those numbers - with your formula sound re-assuring. The cap that blew off was a new one from Chalcal - however if they are vacuum tubes should they not be sucking in air not blowing out air which would cause the cap to blow off ?
