I was idly browsing around my local Orchard Supply Hardware and saw that they had Pozidriv bits for $1.50 each. I know these because they are used to secure ski bindings and I tune my own skis, so I figured "why not?". When I later did some reading, I found that Pozidriv and JIS drivers are designed not to cam out, and they are compatible. I tried them out on the turn signal switch assembly and they seemed to fit perfectly.

For local availability in the rest of the US, I confirmed that Home Depot has a Black and Decker set for $10 that includes Pozidriv bits. Usually JIS sets go for > $30.

No more stripped carb screws for me!

Good work detective, thanks for sharing the knowledge (I'm sourcing a set of 5/16 drive bits straight away for my impact tool).

Hrm. I'm sure I have some Pozidrive bits around here somewhere... although the last time I could have used some JIS bits, I just ground down the nose of a #1 or #2 phillips bit, and got it to go. (Darned Mikuni butterflies, anywho...)

I probably do also, but I always seem to lose those small bit kits.

I finally made it to my semi-local Home Depot and found MANY kits containing Posi bits between $5 and $15.

They seemed to be "seasonal" gift sets and not in the normal isle. Most of them were Husky brand.

    I grabbed #222 925 with a ratching screw driver and 102 Bits
    Long Pozi - PZ0 (2), PZ1 (2), PZ2 (3)
    Standard Pozi Bits - PZ0, PZ1, PZ2 (3)

Note: Some of the kits did not have all 3 sizes.

FYI: I'm sure Lowes and Menards have similar, but I never noticed these low priced kits at Menards and I rarely visit Lowes.

Whether or not they are perfect for our carbs, I now have a LARGE bit set and a nice case to hold all of them. Hopefully I don't lose this set :p
