So before I pull my head on my Xj900 to extract the broke intake studs, I decided to do a compression test to see the shape of the engine! Well because I could not warm it up to temperature as the carbs are off. The cylinder's came back as follows #1 130psi, #2 130 #3 130 and #4 130. I also added 5% to those numbers to compensate for a warm test number for a total of 136 psi.Now I added oil to see if the compression would go up as to rule out bad values and I was impressed cause all the cylinder's increased, but a closer inspection once removed! On my tear down I am going to do a valve clearance measurement so when I go back together it will be correct. Is there any thing else you guys can recommend I do before I disassemble?

Get the outside of the engine as clean as humanly possible to prevent crud from getting inside unnoticed.

Get a few Molson's for the tedious process of removing the old head gasket. I used a 3M reloc (HF copy) with my drill and WD40 after scraping the big chunks off first. Would also highly consider changing out the old valve seals while you have the head off with some new viton replacements.
