so i just got in my shipment for my air pods.... the more i read, the more im scared to put them on. am I really going to have to rejet my carbs? i was hoping to add them on, get rid of the box, and have the bike synced. im guessing its not that easy?

lol, seince you seem to be my guru for the day. I wouldnt even know where to start for the jet size. I believe the exhaust is aftermarket... and its never really run "right" or up to par from day one... so Im lost. but last thing i want is to burn a valve out. im also looking to "straight" pipe it to try as hard as possible to comete with my non jap riding friends. damn v twin harleys!! lol

Here we go again. Pods a going to let more air into your engine so you are more than likely going to have to rejet and play around with the carbs. If this is something your not comfortable with then no I would not do this. We are trying to come up with a solution to this and have done some bench testing with a rubber plug with a 3/4 piece of pvc to act like a restriction and a velocity stack has shown promise on bench but not tested on a running bike yet. Here's some pictures of what I'm working on.

im comfortable rejetting them, but the last time i cleaned them, i got scared. they have been in there so long, youd swear they were ceremic. they were actually chipping. Ive seen the round off, but never chip.

You need to get it running right before you change anything. Check valve clearance , clean synch carbs, start with the basics.

lol, sorry about the here we go again. I figured if all i were doing was the pods, that it would be ok, then i read the 50,000 posts on how bad it is, and got scared

I would get it running right before you put pods on it because they are going to amplify any problem you all ready have. As the here we go again it's just an on going fight about pods on here.

lol. well thanks. all it does is backfire off of a high rpm. but it sounds cool, so it doesnt bother me.... if the machine wasnt 30 years old, with a "noisy" lifter, i would stress about it even more... but its been great for 4 years now
