OK I know this may be a dumb question, but why does everyone talk about converting all of the electrical bulbs to LED? I don't really get it, whats wrong with the stock bulbs??

LEDs draw less current than stock bulb, which in theory results in more power going to the coils, which are infamous for being just barely enough to get the bike firing.

LEDs also do not "burn out" and will last waaaaaaaay longer than a regular 12v bulb

And LED signals usually come with 12 or more "bulbs", so if one does ever happen to burn out, you still have a signal light, just not as bright.

Speaking of just not as bright, that is the one major drawback to LEDs. You need 16 to 20 LEDs on one signal to equal the lumens (output) of a single 27w bulb.

The other drawback for our bikes is that the easiest way to get LEDs to work is by changing the flasher relay, which eliminates the self-cancel feature.

I'm hoping to do SQLguy's LED Flasher relay + extra relay to keep the self cancelling working this week/weekend.

They do make at least one DOT LED turn signals but they are not cheap :(

Those of us with "atari's" also benefit from swapping out LEDs inside to save a few amps/watts for the bulbs that are always on.

    That was ME!

I keep forgetting to bring the camera to work so I can take decent night shots.

I really like the LED Headlight (not so much the price). Its a bright pure white (not blue or yellowish). The beams REALLY reflect off of signs and street reflectors, more than my HID lights in my SUV. I think it might be because there are multiple beams/bulbs instead of just 2 on car.

My LED flasher + SPDT relay self cancelling (I hope) assembly is done and ready to install on my bike with my LED flashers/bulbs. I'll start a new thread in a few days (weather permitting).
