Hey guys its been a busy cold winter been a minute since I've posted. Anyways. . Got the 81 650 max put back together after Carb rebuild brake rebuild valve adjustment ext. Im having troubles with first off I think I have the clutch set somewhat correctly. My Haynes says it should have .2 to. 3 mm of play measured between the lever stock and blade? Not sure as to what its reffering to. But I got it set to where it dosent creep in gear and dosent slip under wot. Soo im assuming im close. What leads me to think its wrong is the fact that shifting up is next to impossible. Its rather strange because before the teardown it shifted great. Now it goes into neutral trying to catch 2nd but if I downshift after trying 2nd it catches then? Almost like its shifting past gears if that makes sense? I have to then try 3rd n then shift back down to catch it. Exct. For all gears. Anyone had anything like this happen? I hope soo. Lol could rotating the engine backwards during the valve adjust dislodged the primary guide plastic chunks I hear about? Also on a side note. If anyone has cable routing diagrams they would be nice. My throttle gets opened at hard right. Anyways. Thanks in advance!

If I am not mistaken The lever stock they are talking about is at the clutch cover. So loosen the clutch lever at the top to create as much slack in cable as possible. Then adjust the lower nuts by the clutch cover to get the clearance. The clearance will be from the ball of the lower clutch cable to the fitting it sits in. Then adjust the upper cable at the clutch lever on handlebars to take out any excess slack. This clearance is for the lever inside the clutch housing.
