Crankcase Hose Torn

    The hose that goes from my crankcase to the air filter is torn. What problems could this cause?

    Almost nothing at all, however, it should be repaired.

    This hose reduces your carbon footprint significantly.

    I have already repaired it but I am having Idle problems and was hoping this could be the cause.

    I looked at your profile, since you are working on 2 XJ's you really need to list them in your signature line, so people will know which bike you are asking Q's on.

    There's a whole list of idle problems also, and it depends a bit on the bike.
    What idle problems, and what bike ??
    Seriously, people are lined up waiting to answer.

    I just bought a 80 XJ650G and am in the process of customizing it. My roommate just bought a 85 Maxim-x XJ700XN. We are in the process of restoring it.

    On the 80 it starts up and then after it warms up the idle is so high i have to shut it off.

    You may just need to adjust the idle. You turn the idle screw that is in the middle of the carbs I want to say counter clockwise and that will lower the idle. Also if you installed new needles you may need to adjust the float heights. The aftermarket needles are sometimes longer than stock ones and the bowls will not fill up correctly and it will cause the idle to be high. Hope that helps.
