I removed the stock airbox. Installed new filters and well the crankcase vent tube is still there just hanging around. Looks absolutely hiddiouse, not to mention its about 30 years old some what crusty and well if I was to stuff it down the back like I did well chances are the crankcase will not breathe correctly thus causeing the head to build up much un wanted preasure , followed by a head gasket leakage. The problem seems to be a easy fix . My own suggestion to myself is this. Ail er that will fit on of that hole sitting there on the crank case or else a piece of garden hose would maybe work. Issues behind the hose are if that hose collapses preasure will build and head gaskets are gonna blow constantly. IE Say This I need a small filter thatll fit over the crankcase ventaltion whole. And ladies we definetly do not want any debris entering that whole because it will damge the bottom half of engine.

    Hi Shayne,
Something I've been struggling with is the blowby and crankcase ventilation also.

If you have a lot of blowby then you will end up sitting in a cloud of fumes while your riding without the crankcase ventilation hose plugged into the stock airbox.

If you don't have a lot of blowby then putting a filter on it is the way to go if you aren't going to use the stock airbox.

K&N sells a crank case breather filter that I have been using for years on numerous bikes. You can also get a cheap spin off brand at most auto supply stores. It is the same filter used on late model valve cover gaskets. You can see that one I installed on a 1990 Radian I have.

    +1.

A "mini-pod" for the breather outlet is the common solution when removing the airbox.

They even come in different colors. Look on eBay.

I think you want the K&N 62-1330 (or Uni equivalent) filter that fits the 1/2" tube - and you may need to extend that tube upwards so the filter can be mounted out of the way of your leg (see where the crankcase tube is now; add a 2" filter to that to imagine what I'm talking about).
