Finally getting the carbs put back together.
#2's jet needle is crooked, had to pull it towards the airbox side to align with the emulsion tube during assembly.

The diaphragm piston passes the clunk test.
After full assembly the piston drops soundly.

Should I worry about the needle being a little crooked?

To clarify, the needle itself is straight, the spring seats on the needle head properly, I removed and reinstalled three times to make sure the spring wasn't kitty wampus. Assembled, the needle can easily be moved up, down and all around; it just sits in the assembly crooked.

Didn't have any issues with #1; dinner and drinks, won't get to 3 and 4 until tomorrow.

There's a dowel inside the piston that pushes the needles to one side, it's normal but I have no idea why it is designed that way
I'm sure one of the experts will know the reason

    Thanks Andy.
I did notice that small dowel/ brass plug in the bottom of the piston. Don't want to mess with it unless the 'wizards' advise . . .

the pin makes sure that the needle can 'float' and 'rotate' as needed.....kind of like the shim bucket rotates in the bore, etc......

when you put the diapragm piston into the bore, you just make sure that the needle goes down into the center of the emulsion tube before doing anything else.

You did, so you're all set.
