Once you get the head and jugs seperated....which will probably require heat, penetrating oil, and time........then you can replace the studs (we have them!).

I will probably have to put a steel plate or washer on the left one Chacal as some of the metal is no longer there.

You're talking about the two vertical ones that hold the front edge of the head to the block?

I would try either welding a cheap socket to the head of the bolt and trying to back it out that way, or cutting off the bolt heads, which should allow the cylinder head to lift off and the you could remove the rest of the bolt from there.

After, I would weld, or have someone weld, aluminum to build back up the bottom area that's been ground down, then drill and tap a new hole in the block.

Yes it is the two at the front of the engine. Unfortunately the nuts are sheared off so I will have to use heat to remove them. Hopefully as they are not threaded (I think) I should be able to lift the head off and then remove the damaged sections from the head. I have an engineering shop near me they would need to build up the damaged area as you stated. I am in two minds just now, not sure if I am going to keep the bike, my nephew can take it. I need to do the guide in the crankcase, and chain and a new cam chain which I don't mind but the damaged head bolts are the biggest problem. That is a good idea you have about building up the aluminium and re-tapping it. I will contact the shop and see what they can do, as I can just take the cylinder block or jugs as you say in America to them.

I just love some of the English words that have different meanings depending on where you are in the world ,brings a smile in these current times.

A few years back the wife and I spent quite a few hours in a pub in Fort William (Scotland) with a couple of guys from the USA chatting about the same thing, good memories.

Yes when l was a kid l was fishing with my friends from school and we were at Ayr. American tourists asked us what type of poles do you have? I said they were beach casters and we call them fishing rods. I like the American saying for Autumn the fall that's cool.

Yep, just watched a TV program called America by air which was very good.

It must be nice to be able to take some long rides out in the states during the fall.
