I initially planned to just swap petcocks and go get inspected. Needless to say, inspiration struck me!

Took the seat off to get the tank off and decided to mount another rear fender. This one is off of a Gold Wing. To make a long story short, I was out in the sunny 85° from 11 am until 8 pm. I got the work done as well as a nice pink sun burn!

Nice looking bike to say the least. Big improvement that definitely compliments the bike. Sure is a picture to look at with envy.

so jealous! it was a beautiful day in Ohio today too, so at least I enjoyed an 80 mile commute round trip; to & from work.

Regarding the modification, nice work. I'm still "stockish" kinda guy but that's nothing extreme IMO and it blends well, yet unique

    Thanks guys!

I was apprehensive about adding the extra weight of a larger fender with 10.5" shocks. Like I said, it mounts higher so I think it will work good. To help offset the extra weight, I removed the right rear set mount. I use the left to support the mufflers.

I intentionally left the bags off so I could check the ride without the added weight. Didn't have any problems. I got the bags to cover the missing side covers. Since I have the covers again, I'm gonna leave the bags off with the exception of longer rides.

While I had the back tire off, I checked the brake. I went ahead and removed the glazing from the shoes and blew out all the brake dust. Of course, this also helped reduce brake squeal too.

oh, I had to take the Dremel to the seat pan too. With the new fender sitting higher in the frame rails, it also pushed the seat up. I just removed a few bulky corner moldings for the HD that its for.

Right on. I'm always digging threw the signal bins at my local salvage yard, even after I put the mini signals on. I think I am going to pick up some new bullet signals soon.

I have put maybe 150 miles on it since adding the new fender. I am happy to report that I have had no contact issues with the fender. I did put the bags back on to transport a Beretta 92fs 9mm however the added weight had no adverse effects.

Just a little update on the look nowadays.

I've been through 4 different fairing/windshields. This one is a keeper. I scored this guy locally for $70. This one rides nice too. It deflects the winds enough to lighten the load against my chest at highway speeds. Yet, it is still doesn't cause the deflected wind to shake my helmet loose. I still get to feel the wind in my face as well. Plus I think it looks pretty badass.

I had to relocate my tool bag. I like where it sits now better too. Hides the odd rise of the back of my seat nicely. Its also easier to reach now as well.

It's generally better to use a free hosting site like Photobucket, and link the pics.

Great looking project. Looks to be coming along fine.
How do you like that (Sportster?) solo seat? Comfy?
I like the tool bag on the rear. Helps clean up where the rear of the saddle sits on the fender.

    Thanks.

I do like the comfort of the Harley seat. I actually had to cut out some of the plastic seat pan to get this fit. I think it looks ok for now. The tool bag definitely help to mask the back. It will work until I get around to fiberglassing a custom seat pan.

I'll most likely just create a new pan and repurpose the foam from this seat.
