I have an 82 XJ750 with the warning lights on the dash. Battery light is always on(14.2v running), so is taillight(led bulbs installed). The brake light goes on and off (even though the res. is filled to the brim). The front brakes work great regardless of warning light. Are there some wires I could cut to eliminate the lights in question? I have black duck tape over em now, including the main warning flasher since it's always flashing, unless I cycle through the button on the dash. Also, My oil light comes on and off every now and then and I have the oil filled to the top of glass(new oil and filter). Is it only a level indicator or is it an oil pressure indicator? If it's just a level indicator, I can eliminate that 1 too. If it's an oil pressure indicator, I may have issues...

BTW..I picked up the bike on Ebay for $600 a month ago and it runs pretty good with 16,000 miles on her. Had to redo the fuse block which sounds typical of these bikes. Added the bags and the new side bags have led lights in em.

There is a battery sensor work around, looks for schematics on the forum, the issue is that these bikes had a sensor that went inside the old batteries, and very few owners seem to put them back inside the new batteries when replacements occur.

I will let others chime in about the other warning issues that are more knowledgable.

Probably what I'll do. Anyone know if the oil sensor is a level check only?

    It's a primitive float-type level sensor.

The work-around converts the sensor from a water-level sensor, to a voltage sensor. You can buy from Len, or you can make your own. Either way you get a useable warning light instead of a flashing menace.

The Schematic is in the "robert" gallery.

Basically, ... it's a feed spliced from the Switched Tail Light Supply --> to a 2.5K Ohm Resistor --> to the Harness Lead for the Batt Sensor.
