Does an 82 XJ650RJ Seca need a YICS tool?

I know some of the Seca's did not have the YICS system. I'll be needing to synchronize my carburetors in a few weeks. My bike is currently far away and would like to fabricate my own YICS tool if needed before I travel to work on my bike. Do anyone know if the 82 XJ650RJ Seca's have the YICS system?

    Your 650 Seca is a pre-YICS version.

Thanks. I'm sure it adds to the performance, but I wasn't looking forward to having to build the tool.

    Red Seca = YICS
    Silver Seca = no YICS

    Really?...

This engine in my scooter is silver, yet has YICS, despite your edict.

    bosozoku,

You live close enough to the border that your bike could have snuck across. Does it also have an oil cooler?

    Originally, no.

It was also sold in the US as a US-market model.

    Quote from Dwayne Verhey

"The 1982 XJ650RJC was YICS equipped. However, this bike was only sold in Canada, the US received the more common XJ650RJ exclusively."

From what my Yama dealer tells me, the RJC was offered in red in 1982 and the RJ was offered in silver. Apparently, people disregard the C portion.

The bodywork is easy enough to change, from Red to Silver.

If it is a US Spec model then it is a non YICS model.

All that you see on my bike is stock, including the paint. It has YICS. :D

True, but you left out a minor but even more important detail for US market bikes:
    Red Seca = 750
    Silver Seca = 650

Not absolutely sure, but I wouldn't think that one would work, as the 1100 is a considerably wider / bigger engine then the 650, so I would imagine the ports that the tool block off would be wider apart and wouldn't work on the 650, but no certain.

Can anyone else confirm whether this statement is true:

So a US model 1982 XJ650RJC model in reality has a 750 engine????
