Does an XJ600 oil cooler fit an XJ550?

    I have seen them used on the 550 before.

    where do they hook up to the motor? Why do you think you need an oil cooler?

    1. they hook up to an adapter plate that sandwitches between the oil filter housing and the engine case.

    2. They help keep the oil temperature down. Yamaha did not equip the U.S. market bikes with an oil cooler in part because of the 55MPH speed limit, which results in lower operating temperatures at speed than the european bikes would see.

    Hi - yes it will fit, BUT the two lower fixing points on the cooler is set different on the 600 than the 550 ( the cooler itself is a fair bit bigger and they are slightly more widely spaced - aboiut 1/2"). Maybe though US bikes don't have that bracket and so you would have to make your own anyway..
