    Hello everyone,

I'm new to motorcycles in general and just passed my motorcycle class a couple weeks ago. I was tinkering with an '82 750 Virago I picked up last Fall but decided to go a different route and found a deal on an '82 550 Maxim. The bike was stock, had been dropped and was pretty rough when I got it.

I'm very glad I found this forum and all the great enthusiasts in this community. I've had the pleasure of buying from Len/chacal from XJ4Ever and I'm sure he'll play a major part in my success in finishing my project.

Here's a picture of it's current state. If you have any questions about the parts I'm using please don't hesitate to ask. I plan to update this thread with my progress. Hopefully I'll be riding a little before winter strikes the Mid-West again.

Thanks for the compliment! The tires are done, very dry rotted. I'll use these for the test drive but shortly after I'll employ my newly acquired tire changing tools to replace them.
