    Welcome to XJBikes tdegler !

Clubmans are pretty popular around here, and are $35, or were you thinking more of a broomstick?
If you have alloy aluminum bars, you've got a bit of work to do before mounting a 7/8 inch chrome bar. It's do-able.

From what I understand (I have not done this) you take apart your triple tree, and replace the top piece with one from a bike with regular handlebars and EXACTLY the same size forks. If you can't find one, I'm parting an '82 Seca 750. PM me.
While you have it apart, upgrade to the tapered steering bearings.
Some styles of bars will have your controls hitting the tank.
You can fix that problem with risers.
