Has anyone found a good universal backrest for an XJ, behind driver rather than passenger, or created a mod that works, other than a duffel bag on the rear seat? I have an XJ650 maxim, and no longer young. What i want is like this first image, and attach to top shock bolt or the holes in this second image: 20230703_203926.jpg

Wouldn't you be leaning forward too much to take advantage of a backrest, or do you have some funky handlebars ?

The Maxim is the "cruiser" model. Nobody is leaning forward on a Maxim.

I'd reccomend contacting Corbin or Seargeant. Both make sustom seats. You aren't going to find much otherwise, unless you look on Ebay every day and get lucky.

Hey Huntchuks, as k-moe said, there is no leaning forward on the maxim. I already use the duffel bag as a backrest on trips, which feels great, but not on day drives.

Thanks k-moe! I was also thinking of an updated seat soon anway. This could be the solution to it. I had already scoured online and ebay and saw nothing.

I still feel amazingly lucky that I found my used Corbin. I spent a year looking, and haven’t seen once since.
