I got an '81 650, is there such thing as driver's backrest. Something i can buy and don't have to fabricate myself?

I had a backrest on my 650 back in the day that would slide out to accomidate the driver. It was an aftermarket luggage rack. If I can figure out what it was I'll get back to this post.

Keep and eye out on Ebay.
Got one on my XS750 2D and XS11 Special

The one on the XS750 was made to flip up and out of the way so you could flip the seat open.

I know Corbin makes customs seats with backrests. www.corbin.com. They are expensive and they won't do a mail order either. If you want a custom seat you have to take your bike to them. Some people say they are the best in the business. My dad had an old Corbin on his 84 Goldwing that was awful. I swear it was made for a woman. I racked by ball on that seat more times than I can count. Its amazing I was ever able to have kids.

The original Yamaha luggage rack has a sliding backrest. You can find the rack - backrest is harder. I have a rack - need the back rest. I am looking at fabricating it.
