I dropped a shim down my cam chain tunnel, where can I check to possibly find it? Didn't have any luck fishing around with a magnet.

Which XJ? Some have better access to the lower end than others.

Drain the oil and remove the shift lever and shift cover. You'll see fairly large passages into the transission; try sticking a magnetic probe in through there. You can drop the oil pan with the engine in the frame if need be (exhaust has to come off).

When I drop a pick into my guitar I just hold it upside down and shake, you could try that.

    Sorry, not helpful.
