First mod I did to my 82 XV750 Virago was put the whole front end off a 83 Midnight Maxim on it. Which makes the bike handle even better then stock and stops better. Now everyone does it espically the sidecar/hack guys. The Maxim's tad shorter forks corrects rake n trail just right for such an app.

[Though you all may not like us Virago folks buying up all the used parts ;)]

Welcome and we'll forgive you for parts swappage. It becomes a neccessity given the age of our vehicles, parts are scarce. I'm installing the complete front end off of an 82 turbo onto my Maxim for added braking capability.

Robert...you realize that the turbo forks will end up giving you a different front end "rake" as the axle mounting point is directly below the tubes on the Turbo models, as opposed to in front of the tubes on the 650 Maxims.....also meaning at lower speeds you may get some quirky handling characteristics..........

I was not aware of that, I'll see what happens. Thanks for the heads-up!

The maxim brakes are pretty darn good. I first grabbed a front end off a vision which looked even better but the fork tubes were to small. The stock Virago 750 ones were that pinned 70s honda design.
Also the maxim ones fit without needing to change headstocks.

the list is to long to post but here are the fork tube dia for all the metric bikes
