So I dropped my bike last night and broke a turn signal. Today when I got to work I discovered gas in my oil. Apparently when I dropped it the carbs emptied thier gas into the air box and it poured down the case vent hose and in to the oil. At leats thats how it seems. So I dropped the oil and am going to replace. So should I worry? I put about 40 miles on the bike with gas in the oil.

Guys have ridden a lot longer than that with gas in their oil with no ill effects. No sense worrying about it. Change your oil and ride your motorcycle.

Somebody reported 3 QUARTS in their oil, making it a 50/50 mix, and their motor didnt get ruined. If you picked the bike up within a minute, the most you would have would be about half a quart of "contaminant".

sweet about what I figured. Better safe than sorry though. I figured all it did was dilute the oil.

What the heck did you drop if for Jason? You just got it running! Are you trying to hurt yourself? That asphalt can hurt buddy....keep the rubber side down and it won't cost you parts or skin.

Glad you and the bike are relatively ok.

I forgot to put the kickstand down before getting off. Believe me I am pissed at myself for doing it. But little damage and lesson learned.

    No..... :(

Well, let me clarify: the 1982 XJ750 Maxim uses the rectangular signals, and they are not the same. The 1983 XJ750 Maxim uses the same round turn signals as teh 550 Maxim models.

I super-glued my signal on one of my other bikes after I hopped off and got 15' away, turned back to go back and set it in gear and watched it roll off the sidestand ....heartbreaking event.....anyway, that signal was glued with SuperJet Medium and that was four years and 16,000 miles ago.....still has the original bulb too. It was in 20 pieces but I reassembled like a jigsaw puzzle and it's still good to go...

Jason if your carbs still dump gas into your oil, you could have a stuck float..
It happens when your carbs get in strange positions sometimes.
You might be able to free it up by tapping on your float bowls.... be xtra careful though as you dont want to break anything.

The carbs don't dump gas when held horizontal to the ground. They pour out when they get to 90 degrees to the ground LOL It doesn't appear to have any stuck floats.

Next question, does your oil level increase when parked for over night?
That would indicate that a float is leaking by (needle and seat)

None the less, having had gas in the crankcase is not good but if the problem is fixed and the oil and filter is fresh and getting any more gas in the oil......... What in the heck are you waiting for!!???
    Better get riding!!
