    G'day all...

    I've got an '85 XJ 700...

Over the years I've noticed that my batteries go dry, and if I forget to check the fluid I end up buying a new one way sooner than I should.

Is that due to the heat from the engine evaporating the water, or is there some other problem I should know about?

My first bike was a Kaw 454 LTD and I had the same battery in that one for five years with no problems (and very little mantainence). Maybe because it was liquid cooled.

Would a sealed battery be a better option, or would there be internal vapor pressure issues if heat really is the culprit?

If not, suggestions on a good sealed battery?

I love the power of the IL-4, but sometimes I really miss my liquid cooled twin...

    Thanx,

Just a thought, but you may have an overcharging problem. If your alternator is pumping out more than say 14.5 volts, you may be boiling off the battery. Have you checked it? See this link for some great battery-related information.
