Has anyone installed Dynatek coils in an XJ or know the ohm rating of the standard coils? I have a set of DC1-1 coils I have considered installing in my XJ 650. They are 3OHM units. Any thoughts?

I installed them on my '86 Maxim X. They work very well. Hap's page has a lot of information on them (and installing them on an X). They would be very easy to install on a 650

Absolutely -- had a stock coil fail on my 750 Max, and stuck in a set of Dynas from Chacal. It starts SOOOOOOO much easier now.

If you get the coils from Chacal, you'll get a copy of the writeup I did that meticulously and painstakingly details the process.

    XJCD says 2.5 ohms.

Oh, you have them already? Send Chacal a PM and see if he'll send you a copy of the file.

I also put them on my 86 X following the directions from Hap's page. Very easy install.

30 ohm coils on a system designed for 3 is not a good thing folks. I don't recall which P/N is the ticket for the earlier XJs but I'd be looking to install the correct resistance coils so as to avoid frying my ignition system.

The Dyna dc1-1 are 3 Ohm coils Robert, not 30 Ohms, there was no space between the 3 and the OHM, which made it look like 30 Ohm, and the stock coils are 2.5 Ohm. It's ok going slightly above this rating, but going below is a no-no as it will damage your TCI. The dc1-1 run fine on the bike
