Electrical...Main Red at Battery or Solenoid?

    In my Haynes manual the electrical schematics show the thick red main power being drawn directly off the battery (pg. 265). The book also shows in a picture (pg. 223) that same wire connected to the solenoid. I think the main power should be drawn off the battery. The solenoid is to allow the starter motor to draw the initial large charge to start the bike, right?

    In the schematic, it is directly off the battery.

    In the wiring diagram, it connects to the terminal on the solenoid, in common with the big battery lead.

    Physically different; electrically the same.
